5 Teams You Should Pay Attention To in MSI 2024

5 Teams You Should Pay Attention To in MSI 2024

Whether they’re favorites or underdogs, these are the teams you don’t want to miss.

MSI 2024 is almost upon us as the best League of Legends teams from around the world converge to Chengdu, China. The battle between the 12 teams will be fierce as they reach for that direct qualification to Worlds 2024.

There’s going to be a lot to keep track of but we’ve got five teams we’re sure will stand out.

T1 (South Korea)

This one’s a bit of a cop-out since they are the current world champions. Still, T1 have proven to be an exciting team to watch as they’ve shown time and time again that they’re not content on resting on their laurels. They’re not afraid to experiment, to push their own boundaries and see how far they can go.

This also means that they’re not untouchable. Let’s not forget that they’re coming in as South Korea’s second seed after losing to Gen.G Esports. It’ll be interesting to see how other teams will shape up against the world champs, especially if they’re still willing to play just a little bit crazy.

GAM Esports (Vietnam)

It has not been a good year for the professional Vietnamese League of Legends. Many teams were left in turmoil after the entire league was caught in a massive match fixing scandal, GAM included.

Despite having to replace their Mid and Bottom Laners, GAM were still able to take their playoffs in convincing fashion. The team’s looking strong and stable, but will it be enough against the international competition in MSI 2024?

Team Liquid (North America)

Team Liquid has had a bit of a rollercoaster of a season leading up to MSI 2024. After finishing the regular season in the middle of the pack, they rallied hard for the playoffs. They were sent into the lower bracket early in their run but since then beat every single team ahead of them in the standings to become North America’s first seed.

A particular stand out was Eom “UmTi” Seong-hyeon, Team Liquid’s import Jungler from South Korea. He spent a majority of his career in bottom tier teams before finally winning his first championship in North America. His perseverance and willingness to improve has been a boon to Team Liquid and it’s sure to come in handy at MSI.

G2 Esports (EMEA)

The undisputed kings of Europe are back and looking in top form. They finished top of the table in the regular season and looked absolutely unstoppable during playoffs by only dropping two games in their entire run. With momentum like that they’re surely going to be real contenders in MSI.

G2 also still remains the only non-Asian team to win MSI. They’ve been chasing that high ever since but if there was ever a year that they could win MSI again it would be this one.

Bilibili Gaming (China)

Speaking of teams looking in top form, Bilibili Gaming returns to MSI with an ax to grind. Not content with finishing second and third place in last year’s MSI and Worlds, they returned to China to dominate the regular season and practically cruised their way to the championship.

This time, in their home turf, Bilibili are not going to settle for second place. The other teams better be ready as Bilibili are entering MSI 2024 as the absolute favorites to take it all.
