Looks like the Philippine era is not over just yet.
After a fierce fight for the top, Falcons AP.Bren walked away as the Snapdragon Pro Series Season 5 champions. They took the crown after a grueling 4-3 victory against fellow Filipino rivals Team Liquid PH at the Quill City Mall, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Falcons AP.Bren’s path to becoming champions was not an easy one as they were already being challenged on day one.
In the group stage, they shared a group with the kings of Indonesia, Fnatic ONIC, and MSC 2024 champions plus hometown heroes, Selangor Red Giants. While Falcons AP.Bren were able to secure second in the group, but the Giants still looked like the team that won a million dollars back in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
That became even more evident when the Giants 2-0’d Falcons AP.Bren, knocking them into the lower bracket. Undeterred, the Hive took down Fnatic ONIC 2-1 to face the Giants in the lower bracket finals. The Giants had a close 3-2 loss against Team Liquid and would suffer the same fate against Falcons AP.Bren. They would fall to the Hive 3-1, completing Falcons AP.Bren’s revenge for their grand finals loss in Riyadh.
Once again, the two titans of the Philippines are battling it out to see which one will raise the trophy. Team Liquid were able to get the better of Falcons AP.Bren back in the MPL PH S13 grand finals. Their last encounter, however, went solidly to the Hive and the Cavalry were not going to let that happen again.
It was a close battle that went the full seven games, but in the end, it’s Falcons AP.Bren is crowning itself as the Snapdragon Pro Series champion. They’ve shown why they’re the reigning world champions and that the Philippines will not be dethroned so easily.
