ECHO’s KarlTzy on Refocusing and Preparing for the MPL PH S13

ECHO’s KarlTzy on Refocusing and Preparing for the MPL PH S13

The former world champion is ready to prove that he’s still got what it takes.

After a disappointing end to last year, ECHO’s Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno is looking for a comeback in MPL PH S13. Due to failing to qualify for the M5 World Championship to defend their title, the team had drawn criticism from fans for their lackluster end-of-season performance.

After getting second place in last year’s ONE Esports MPL Invitational, KarlTzy decided to take advantage of the extended break. According to him this was much needed, “siyempre mas lalo na sakin, ako na sobrang tagal na dito sa MPL.” KarlTzy has been playing in the MPL since S2 and he’s definitely learned the value of taking breaks whenever he can.

That doesn’t mean he spent all that time slacking. KarlTzy admits that he never stopped playing during the off-season and did a fair bit of grinding in ranked. Now that the season is in full swing, he’s decided to kick it up a notch. “Pagbalik namin sa boot camp mas nag-grind pa ako,” said KarlTzy. “Rank games namin dapat two hours lang so parang sinobrahan ko pa. Naghahanap pa ako ng extra time para mag-grind.”

This sort of discipline and perseverance is definitely needed for someone to become a veteran in the strongest Mobile Legends league in the world. When asked if his veteran status has put any pressure on him to keep up with the newer talent in the league, KarlTzy says he thinks that it’s the opposite. “Feel ko sila yung na-aaurahan sa ganun eh. Feel ko sila yung mas-nagiisip.

Aurahan literally refers to the idea of someone giving off an aura and others getting affected by it. With KarlTzy exuding that kind of confidence, then it’s a good sign that he and ECHO are on the right path to succeed in the MPL PH S13.
