It’s always a shock to hear news about people passing at a young age, but even more so for someone like Anthony Johnson.
Anthony Johnson was a former UFC fighter, nicknamed “Rumble” because of his one-punch knockout power. He was also formerly the number-one rank light heavyweight contender in the UFC and had a compiled 23-6 MMA record before he retired in 2017.
Johnson’s health concerns were made public through an interview with ESPN by his manager Ali Abdelaziz late last October. “Rumble, he’s going through some health problems right now. It’s very sad,” Abdelaziz shared.
Abdelaziz was also quick to give props to people from the MMA community who were supporting Johnson in his battle. “I want to give a shoutout to Bellator, Scott Coker. They’ve been supporting him. You could not imagine how much support they’re giving them,” he expressed.
Earlier today, it was reported that Johnson’s cause of death was an organ failure due to a rare immune system disorder referred to as non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis.
And all the way to his tragic and shocking passing, the MMA community continues to come together and show their love for Anthony and those he left behind.
Rumble in Peace, legend.
