Counting down to the Filipinas’ berth into the Women’s World Cup kicking off in July, the tournament trophy will be coming to Philippine shores in March.

To celebrate the 2023 Women’s World Cup, FIFA is hosting a trophy tour, wherein 32 countries will get the opportunity to host the tournament trophy on their home turfs.

This year, the trophy tour is going to be the biggest one yet, including all the 32 participating countries in the tournament kicking off in July.

With this, the Philippines will be among the countries that will be hosting the trophy for the very first time, along with Colombia, Costa Rica, and Switzerland.

“The FIFA Women’s World Cup Trophy Tour is a spectacular global celebration of the women’s game, giving fans, families, and future football enthusiasts an opportunity to be inspired and become part of a truly special journey,” FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura said in a statement.

With this initiative, FIFA hopes to get more fans engaged and excited for the upcoming World Cup. And on top of this, they also hope to inspire more youngsters to get into the sport.

Apart from just showcasing the trophy, FIFA is also hosting a ‘Skills Drills’ wherein women and girls will be able to join the celebrations by showcasing their football skills and creativity on TikTok.

With this, a selected few may even get the chance to join FIFA Legends, national team players, and other personalities to highlight even more incredible talents in the sport.

The Philippines will be the third country to host the Women’s World Cup trophy on March 1 to 2.

Before coming to Philippine shores, the trophy will make stops in Japan on February 25 and Korea Republic on February 27. After its stop in Manila, the trophy will be moving on to other countries in Asia including Vietnam and China.

“It is a fantastic opportunity to experience the most coveted prize in women’s football in person and hear from the game’s legends. The tour will inspire people worldwide by shining a spotlight on the skills and creativity that demonstrate why women’s football has such a bright future,” Samoura expressed.
