To support a team that embodies the mantra ‘Impossible is Nothing’, adidas Philippines have signed a partnership with the Philippine Women’s National Football team ahead of their Women’s World Cup berth.
Impossible Is Nothing.
Such is the phrase that has driven adidas throughout the brand’s journey of innovating in the world of sport. In its pursuit of supporting athletes around the globe, the commitment to empowering them to victory and glory remains unwavering.
And today, adidas takes this commitment one step higher in the local football scene, with the sportswear brand inking a four-year partnership with the Philippine National Women’s Football Team under the Philippine Football Federation (PFF).
The partnership was inaugurated through a contract signing today at the New World Hotel in Makati, Metro Manila.
PFF General Secretary Edwin Gastanes, adidas Philippines General Manager Anthony Frangos, and Filipinas team members Inna Palacios and Hali Long were present at the contract signing to celebrate the new partnership.
“It’s an incredible thing to wear their logo on their jersey,” Hali Long shares. “That respect that we carry now, it’s like the other bigger countries that we will be playing against in the World Cup.”
A historic partnership for a historic year
Throughout 2023, adidas will be proudly supporting the Filipinas throughout their busy schedule, which includes tournaments such as the 32nd Southeast Asian Games and their historic participation at the FIFA Women’s World Cup — the team’s first-ever FIFA bid in their 42-year history.
With this partnership, adidas aims to proactively propel the conversation around women in sport and the growing local support for football, especially following the team’s string of successes over the last few years.
In addition, the brand has boasted a long-standing belief in the power of sports to change lives, which adidas aims to actively embody by empowering the national team as they not only reach greater heights, but also serve as role models to all current and aspiring female football players.
“As the country’s national women’s football team gears to have a packed 2023 ahead of them, we at adidas are truly honored to forge a partnership with them,” says adidas Philippines General Manager Anthony Frangos.
“In everything we do as a brand, we have always drawn inspiration from the saying ‘Impossible Is Nothing,’ and it is very clear how the national women’s football team has also long brought this to life. As we move forward, adidas promises to be beside these inspiring women for every training, every milestone, and every victory that awaits them.”
Philippine Women’s National Team Manager Jefferson Cheng shares the same sentiment.
“This is an incredibly significant partnership for the Philippine Women’s National Football Team,” Cheng expresses. “We are honored to have adidas as our official kit supplier as we prepare to compete at the Philippines’ maiden FIFA World Cup in six months’ time.
“We thank adidas for its inclusive support for the beautiful game all over the world, for sponsoring the FIFA Women’s World Cup, and now for giving its full support to the Philippines’ women’s teams, not just to our Senior Team bound for the World Cup but also to our youth teams participating in various international tournaments in the coming months.
“Our entire group is excited to be adidas ambassadors and we hope that, together, we can bring football in the Philippines to unprecedented heights.”
The partnership with adidas will begin with the team’s participation at the Pinatar Cup this month.
With this, the brand will be providing all the members of the team — the senior team, U-20s, and coaching staff — with apparel. In addition, they will continue their participation at the Olympic Qualifiers in April; the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in May; and the FIFA Women’s World Cup starting in July.
