After two very different conference championships, only the Eagles and Chiefs remain in the hunt for the Super Bowl LVII title.
The Super Bowl LVII stage is set.
After a pair of two very different games in the NFL today, the two conference champions remain: the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs.
With two more weeks until Super Bowl LVII, who’s going to take it all the way?
The Eagles dominate
The 49ers had to play with a huge disadvantage early in the game, with their starting quarterback Brock Purdy leaving in the first half due to an elbow injury.
Although Purdy returned in the third quarter, the Eagles capitalized on their opponent’s struggle.
With touchdowns from Jalen Hurts, Miles Sanders, and Boston Scott, Philadelphia eased into a 31-7 win over the Niners to secure their ticket to Super Bowl LVII.
Philadelphia is no stranger to the Super Bowl stage. Their team has won the NFC championship thrice before today. And on the Eagles’ last trip to the Super Bowl in 2017, they beat the New England Patriots.
Now, they will have to face the Chiefs for the title.
Chiefs win in the final seconds
While the Eagles managed an easy win over the Niners, the game between the Bengals and the Chiefs went down to the wire.
With 30 seconds left on the clock, the score was still level at 20-20. But after Bengals Joseph Ossai shoved the Chiefs’ quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, out of bounds, Kansas City was granted an extra 15 yards.
With the distance, Harrison Butker scored the field goal to bring the score up to 23-20 to send the Chiefs to the Super Bowl.
In last year’s AFC Championship, Cincinnati defeated Kansas City in a close 27-24 game to advance to the Super Bowl for the third time in their team’s history. Now, the Chiefs have had their redemption.
With this, it’s all or nothing for the Chiefs and the Eagles as they face off on February 13 (Manila time) for Super Bowl LVII.
