Philippine star pole vaulter EJ Obiena has been making headline after headline throughout the past many months. We’re sure you know what we’re talking about.
EJ’s training in Formia, Italy has certainly been paying off. He has had an incredible pole vaulting season this year, highlighted mostly by his bronze medal finish in the World Athletics Championships and his win over Armand Duplantis in the Brussels Diamond League.
The hero comes back home
Now, after just winning two gold medals in the Golden Fly Series in Liechtenstein and the Gala dei Castelli in Switzerland, EJ Obiena is back in Manila for a much deserved break. In his recent Instagram post, he shared that it is now ”time for rest and regroup for next year.”
He also wrote a short message in his Instagram caption for all his supporters. “Maraming salamat po sa lahat sumubaybay sa aking mga laban nitong nakaraang linggo. Lalo na po sa mga kababayang pumunta at nanood sa aking laro. Maraming salamat po.”
Throughout his entire outdoor season this year, he has obtained many successes, and it’s been hard to keep track—which is a good thing! Stay tuned for our rundown of EJ’s incredible season.
