Tune into Apple’s new World Cup podcast hosted by ‘Ted Lasso’ star Brendan Hunt

By Annika Caniza - November 15, 2022

It looks like Coach Beard from ‘Ted Lasso’ has fully adjusted to European football, as he’s going to be hosting his very own World Cup podcast.

Well, not Coach Beard exactly—but close enough. Brendan Hunt, the actor and co-creator of the hit Apple TV+ series ‘Ted Lasso’ will be the new star of Apple’s new podcast: After the Whistle.

Diving into the World Cup

With only a few days left before the official kick-off of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, everyone is getting in on the hype. And Apple is making sure not to miss out on it either.

Brendan Hunt, along with NBC Sports host, Rebecca Lowe, will be following the entire tournament and covering it on Apple’s new podcast, After the Whistle.

According to Apple, “After the Whistle will bring listeners an entertaining and informative take on all of the action throughout the World Cup tournament, from the perspective of two bona fide football superfans.”

For those of you who didn’t know, even though Hunt plays Coach Beard on ‘Ted Lasso’, an American Football coach, the actor is actually a lifelong football fan. He follows Major League Soccer in the United States, as well as the Premier League in England.

In addition, his co-host, Rebecca Lowe is a big football fan herself—of course, as a host for the sport on NBC Sports, particularly on their coverage of the English Premier League.

With this duo, we’re sure to get fresh takes, unique insights, and of course, entertainment, throughout the entire World Cup.

After the Whistle premieres on November 17, 2022, on Apple Podcasts, just a few days before the kick-off, to give football fans a preview of the World Cup. Additionally, more episodes will come out multiple times per week to follow the matches throughout the tournament.
