UAAP: NU hands UP first loss of Season 85, 80-75

The NU Bulldogs defeated the UP Fighting Maroons earlier today with an 80-75 win. This marks the UAAP reigning champions, UP’s first loss of Season 85. Additionally, it is also NU’s first victory over the Fighting Maroons since 2017.

Although UP trailed NU by 12 points in the third quarter, they were able to reverse their deficit with a 22-4 run to gain a six-point lead. However, the Bulldogs went on their own 15-1 run in the fourth to bring them back ahead of the game.

Ultimately, the Fighting Maroons were unable to catch up and NU was able to seal the win with a five-point advantage, 80-75.

Omar John was the player of the game for the NU side today, contributing 16 points, three blocks, and three assists. On the other side of the court, Fighting Maroon Zavier Lucero recorded a game-high 22 points.

This Saturday, NU will be competing against Adamson University, while UP will face the Ateneo Blue Eagles on Sunday.
