The correspondents of UAAP Season 87 are in the best positions to bring the teams’ stories to light.
The UAAP Season 87 basketball tournaments are set to begin, and, as in previous years, the collegiate correspondents will deliver in-depth and exclusive stories from our favorite universities throughout the season. But, there is something particularly special about this season’s group of storytellers.
For the first time in a long while, each UAAP correspondent will represent their own university, showcasing that every school can produce talent worthy of reporting on our TV screens.
Meet the UAAP Season 87 correspondents!
Patrice Dabao returns for another season with her beloved green and white, as De La Salle University aims for a back-to-back crown in men’s basketball. A student in Interdisciplinary Business Studies, Patrice also won Best Thesis and was a consistent 1st Honor Dean’s Lister. Her athletic prowess is evident from her time playing basketball and volleyball at Everest International Academy.
Far Eastern University’s Mae Reyes will be the first back-to-back correspondent for her school since UAAP Season 82. As a BA Communications student from FEU Manila, Mae will bring us stories from Morayta as the team seeks to return to the UAAP Final Four. She is also a production assistant for an events management group and a key figure in FEU events like the Tamaraw Media Awards 2023 and TAM DokyuFest 2023.
Adamson University’s Ella Regudo returns this Season 87 after taking over correspondent duties midway through last year’s UAAP Women’s Volleyball tournament. A graduating BA Communication Arts student, Ella previously served as Assistant Program Head for sports and is now the news and current affairs director for Adamson’s Falcon Radio.
While these familiar faces will definitely be a welcome sight this season, UAAP is also ushering in five new faces on the UAAP sidelines.
Season-host University of the Philippines will be represented by Cheska Ramos, a second-year BA Psychology student who takes over from Carla Elizaga. Cheska, a former co-captain of the Immaculate Conception Academy volleyball team and captain of their football team, has also worked with coach Onyok Getigan in the Quezon City Volleyball Circuit (QCVC).
Meanwhile, Ateneo de Manila University will feature Vicsi Burgos, a second-year AB Communications student from Assumption College San Lorenzo. Vicsi is a leader of the AIESEC Events and Initiatives Team in Ateneo and was a delegate at the ASEAN-Italy Youth Conference in Jakarta, Indonesia.
University of Santo Tomas will have Casandrah ‘Chersie’ Zulueta bring us insights into the Growling Tigers’ season. A first-year medical student in the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, Chersie recently graduated Cum Laude in Nursing. She previously played as a libero for the De La Salle Zobel Girls Volleyball team.
National University will be represented by Denise Tubig, a third-year Communications major and consistent first-honors dean’s lister. Denise also serves as The NationalTV Reporter and writer for The National, NU’s official student publication. She was a Salutatorian at the Eugenio M. Lopez Jr. Center for Media Arts Senior High School.
University of the East will have Althea Franco, a second-year Broadcasting student, on the sidelines. Althea is also the Vice President of the Tribunal Debate Club and has a history of leadership as the Vice President of the UE Senior High School Student Council.
