Fitness and Fun in One: 5 Running Clubs You Can Join Around Metro Manila

By RJ Ballecer - May 19, 2024
Weekly runs will now be more fun and enticing as ever thanks to these running clubs! Here are some you can join in Metro Manila.

Thanks to running clubs becoming more and more of a trend, your weekly runs are bound to become a whole new experience! For aspiring first-timers, this could just be the very sign you’re looking for to finally run towards an active and healthy lifestyle.

Running clubs foster a sense of community, so apart from living healthy, there’s also the added bonus of finding new friends along that path who can help you stay accountable on your journey. There’s also the sense of inclusivity, as you don’t need to be a marathon-level runner to join any of these clubs. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced runner, there’s always a set distance and pace that’s present for you in these communities.

Here are five run clubs in Metro Manila that you may want to join!

Rockwell Run Club

The Rockwell Run Club is one of Metro Manila’s fastest-growing communities and they actually set up runs along Makati’s Central Business District, and even Bonifacio Global City!

Currently, Rockwell Run Club has five weekly runs from Monday through Sunday. Mondays to Wednesdays are “beginner friendly” five-kilometer runs starting either in the Ayala Triangle Gardens or by Rockwell’s Power Plant Mall.

Fridays and Sundays, on the other hand, are dedicated to more experienced runners. However, according to the group, beginner runners are still free to join their Friday sessions, which are track runs at the University of Makati (UMak) track and field oval!

Additionally, another beginner-friendly run is scheduled every Sunday, on top of the long-distance runs for seasoned runners. Check out their schedule here

EZ Run Club

Over in Pasig’s Kapitolyo neighborhood is the EZ Run Club, which holds five (you may choose to walk here!), eight, and 12-kilometer runs every weekend at 5:15 AM. On occasion though, the group also organizes sessions in ArcoVia city, also in Pasig.

So, if you live in these neighborhoods, or even the Boni-Pioneer area, you don’t need to look far for a run club within Metro Manila!

Almost Speedy Run Club

If you’re a Manila or even Pasay resident, then you might want to check out the newly founded Almost Speedy Run Club. Currently, the group conducts beginner-friendly runs every Wednesday morning primarily within the Manila-Pasay area – which includes attractions like the MOA Seaside, Star City, and Rizal Park!

A run with Almost Speedy might also be a great opportunity to catch a beautiful sunrise by Manila Bay. So if you’re looking for added motivation, then this could be the sign!

Cubao Run Club

Well into northern Metro Manila is the Cubao Run Club which holds Urban Runs every Wednesday, and Community Runs on Sundays! Some of their routes include the Maginhawa neighborhood, Tomas Morato, Camp Aguinaldo, Araneta City, and UP Diliman all in Quezon City.

The group also runs around Greenhills in San Juan, and the Ortigas Business District, which encompasses Quezon City, Pasig, and Mandaluyong.

Schedule and distance vary per month though. But based on past schedules, the distances may be between the five to even 13-kilometer range.

Regardless, for the northies, it’s best to check out the run club’s Instagram now and then to see their schedule!

RWP Run Club

Last but not least is the RWP Run Club, which could already pass off as a running community with their Facebook group alone having around 22,000 members. In fact, the club already has “chapters” in Alabang, Makati, BGC, and even in UP Diliman!

Given their huge reach, it’s best to check in on RWP’s Facebook group for run schedules which may even include your area! As a bonus, this might even be a perfect avenue to interact with runners across the country, and not just Metro Manila!
