This workout will push you to perform slow, controlled movements that cause a seriously rewarding burn. Here’s where you can try it out!
If you’ve already been through your Pilates era, and you’ve hopped on the yoga craze, barre might just be your next workout obsession.
Barre is a workout that blends elements of Pilates, yoga, and ballet, as these workouts are typically (though not always) performed using a ballet barre. It’s low-impact and full-body, and it mainly utilizes controlled repetitive movements or isometric holds that will generate some serious heat.
Some classes incorporate the use of light dumbbells, others might be purely bodyweight — but at its core, the movements in these classes are performed with the goal of “fatiguing” the muscles safely, as this is what builds strength.
The benefits of this workout are manifold: they can improve strength and tone your body, promote better posture, improve your stability and balance, and build muscle endurance, too.
Ready to try it out? Here’s where you can book barre classes in Metro Manila!
Barre3

Barre3 is arguably the most well-known fitness studio in Metro Manila that offers barre classes — after all, it is in the name, so you can be sure that this is their specialty.
Barre3 first opened in Manila in 2008 and has since expanded into multiple branches across the Metro. Their signature class is a 60-minute full-body workout, which they offer in many different timeslots across their studios in the Powerplant Mall, Podium Mall, Bonifacio High Street, and Shangri-La Plaza.
The Breathing Room PH
The Breathing Room, located in Icon Plaza, BGC, is all about helping you find the space to take a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Not only do they offer a wide range of workout classes, from mat pilates to yoga, but they also specialize in their salt therapy sessions, which are said to have a number of health benefits.
Focused on well-rounded wellness, The Breathing Room also offers barre classes. All their sessions are 60 minutes long, and their barre sessions, in particular, utilize “rigorous repetitions and pulsing” to improve your endurance.
The OCA Collective

Also located in BGC, in Bonifacio High Street, The OCA Collective is a movement and recovery studio designed to bring balance to one’s life, and they have many, many different kinds of classes and wellness sessions to choose from. Yoga flows, mat pilates, yogalates, HIIT pilates, sound baths, breathwork classes, ice-sauna sessions — take your pick.
They also have two types of barre classes that you can choose from. Their HIIT Barre Express is a 45-minute full-body, high-intensity workout to build strength, while their 60-minute Power Barre classes are designed to sculpt and utilize functional movements.
Cedo Wellness
Launched just earlier this year in Salcedo, Makati, Cedo Wellness is a wellness and recovery space that boasts science-backed recovery therapies. Though their contrast therapy services are their bread and butter — which features a dry sauna plus cold plunge tubs — they also offer other forms of wellness, such as workout classes.
Their range of classes includes vinyasa, yin yoga, mat pilates, and of course, barre. Their “Bareless Barre” workouts are performed on a mat and are designed to boost coordination, balance, and strength through pulses and repetitive movements.
Barre classes have become more popular in Metro Manila recently. Which studio are you trying out next?
