The Super Bowl LVII is only a few weeks away. Here’s what you need to know about the schedule, the halftime performance, and where to watch!
The NFL is now well into the playoffs, with the few remaining teams fighting for a ticket to one of the biggest sporting events in the world: the Super Bowl.
The Super Bowl is the most popular sports event in the United States, but fans from all over the world tune in as well. But one of the things that separate the NFL championship from other sports events is its halftime show.
There is nothing quite like the Super Bowl halftime show. With previous acts such as Katy Perry, Coldplay, Michael Jackson, and Beyonce, it’s like a full-blown concert in the middle of a championship game.
In fact, last year’s halftime show featuring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar, and 50 Cent, averaged 103.4 million viewers.
Can this year’s show top last year’s? Here’s what you need to know to find out.
When is Super Bowl LVII?
This year’s Super Bowl officially kicks off on February 12, 2023, at 4:30 PM in the State Farm Stadium in Arizona.
If you’re catching the Super Bowl from the Philippines, it starts on Monday morning, February 13, at 7:30 AM.
This means that the halftime show will likely take place anywhere between 9:00 to 9:30 AM (Manila time). Usually, the halftime show lasts anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes, giving the fans just the right amount of time to enjoy the performance, and giving the athletes a much-needed break from the action.
Who’s performing?
This year, the NFL is bringing back the standard one-act Super Bowl halftime show.
Last year, the halftime show featured more than just one act. The fans (over 100 million of them) got to see a medley of performances by Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar, and 50 Cent.
In some other years, multiple performers have also taken the stage at once. For instance, in 2016, Coldplay, Bruno Mars, and Beyonce headlined the show.
But this year (so far) only one act has been announced. And trust us, this one act is more than enough.
Rihanna is headlining the halftime show of Super Bowl LVII.
The NFL announced Rihanna as the headliner for the event in September last year.
After she took some time off the music industry, she recently came back onto the scene with her single Lift Me Up, for the Marvel movie Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Now, her upcoming Super Bowl halftime performance marks her first live performance in over five years — and she even admitted her nerves in anticipation of the event.
“I can’t believe I even said yes,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “The Super Bowl is one of the biggest stages in the world, it’s an entertainer’s dream to be on a stage like that. But it’s nerve-racking. You want to get it right. You know, everybody’s watching. And they’re rooting for you. And I want to get it right.”
