Naomi Osaka is pregnant! Just a few days after her shocking withdrawal from the 2023 Australian Open, the Grand Slam champ announces that she expecting her first child.
Just a few days before the first major Grand Slam of the year, a shocking announcement just dropped explaining the withdrawal of an Australian Open Champion: Naomi Osaka is pregnant.
The 25-year-old made her announcement with a post of her ultrasound on her social media accounts.
“Can’t wait to get back on the court but here’s a little life update for 2023,” she wrote in the caption of her post.
Entering a new chapter
Ever since Osaka withdrew from competing in major tournaments to work on her mental health, there has been a lot of speculation regarding her future in the sport. She has not competed on the WTA tour since last September.
However, in her post, she gives her fans a more solidified statement of where she sees her career going as she now expects her first child.
“These few months away from the sport has really given me a new love and appreciation for the game I’ve dedicated my life to,” she writes on her Instagram. “I know that I have so much to look forward to in the future, one thing I’m looking forward to is for my kid to watch one of my matches and tell someone, “that’s my mom”, haha.”
“I’ll see you guys in the start of the next one ’cause I’ll be at Aus 2024,” the Grand Slam champion announces.
Although Osaka herself did not confirm who the father of her child is, many are speculating that she is expecting the child with her longtime boyfriend, rapper Cordae.
Cordae, who has released two solo studio albums and has been nominated for a Grammy, rumors about their relationship have circulated beginning in 2019. In fact, GQ Sports even released a story about their relationship in 2021.
Now, with the reveal of her pregnancy and her intention to play in next year’s tournament, Osaka’s fans are wishing her nothing but the best.
