Coco Schwan gets to squeeze in a quick beach trip amid the 2025 PVL Reinforced Conference.
Even if it was just for a short while, Coco Schwan was able to squeeze in a quick vacation while playing for the Creamline Cool Smashers in the 2025 PVL Reinforced Conference.
Amid the Philippines’ yearly Undas season, Coco went on a three-day trip to Boracay with her husband Giacomo Titta — a quick getaway that left a lasting impression after they saw the picturesque views and pristine white sands in person.
“Best experience ever!” Coco told The GAME in an exclusive interview on Thursday after Creamline returned to action against the Nxled Chameleons at the FilOil EcoOil Arena in San Juan.
“Best beach I’ve ever been to, best sand I’ve ever touched! The water was a little bit warm to my liking, and I wish it was a little bit fresher, but it’s clean and it’s beautiful.”
A beach volleyball player herself, Coco was even invited by locals to play some pickup games during her short, but sweet stay. However, as she’s still playing for Creamline, the towering hitter had to decline as a precautionary measure against injury.
“Some people asked me if I could play, and I thought that if I did get injured in that scenario, I would be in trouble,” she said with a smile.” So I was like ‘I’m gonna stay away from that and I’m just going to take this vacation.’”
Along with the memories she’s made, Coco says that her beach trip was a much-needed one, given the highly competitive field of this year’s Reinforced Conference. Even as the defending champs, it’s been far from smooth sailing for the league darlings, who were dealt losses by the up-and-coming Akari and ZUS Coffee back in Round 1.
Coco has been solid for the Cool Smashers, putting up a team-high 22.8 points per game along with a 37.39 percent receiving efficiency after one round of eliminations. But there is no doubt that she and Creamline will need to double, or even triple, their efforts as the PVL playing field continues to level up.
“We’re very, very lucky because our coaches and staff are very, very good at making sure that we get the rest that we need. So that was very, very helpful and we’re happy about that,” she said.
If she had the time, Coco also hopes to visit El Nido, a beach known for its crystal-clear waters and limestone cliffs, to name a few. But since she’s expected to leave by December 1, the least that Coco hopes to get is a PVL title with the Cool Smashers before she goes into her next club team season abroad.
“I wish, but I’m hoping that we make the championship or make a run for it, then I will have my flight on December 1st, because unfortunately, I have to get to my next season, which starts immediately after this,” she said.
“I want to go to El Nido, and it’s sad that they are having the typhoon right now, but that’s where I would like to visit if I could,” shared Coco, referring to the onslaught of Tropical Storm Tino over Palawan.
Now that she’s well into her stay in the Philippines, Coco says that the culture is quite the departure from what she was used to during her past volleyball stints in France, Italy, and Greece.
“I would say that the culture is very, very different, but I have nothing but good things to say about it! The good things from Europe are different from the good things here,” she said.
“I think here I’ve met the nicest people I’ve ever met, so I would say you guys have the nicest culture. You guys are so welcoming and made me feel at home really fast.”
