How The NBA Will Celebrate Bay Area Culture In The 2025 All-Star Game

By RJ Ballecer - February 07, 2025

Subtle details will serve as the NBA’s celebration of the vibrant San Francisco-Bay Area culture for the 2025 All-Star Game.

The devil is in the details whenever the NBA celebrates its host cities for All-Star weekend, whether it’s through cultural nods or home team motifs. For instance, the 1995 All-Star Game in Phoenix had Aztec motifs, and the iconic cactus graphic. Or how about the 2020 games in Chicago, which incorporated details from the city’s “L” transit line.

It won’t be any different this year, with the San Francisco-Bay Area set to host the midseason festivities. Whether it’s the vibrant court, or jerseys to be worn, each design is a love letter to the area’s rich cultural history and the hometown team Golden State Warriors.

With that, let’s take a look at this year’s design motifs for the 2025 NBA All-Star festivities.

Tribute to Oakland, San Francisco

Three uniforms will be worn for this year’s All-Star game, coming in navy blue, light blue, and red colors. The navy and light blue kits include Oakland-themed motifs, such as the vertical font style meant to represent the city’s theater district.

Oak tree symbolisms are prominent here, namely the side patterns, and the image on the shorts’ belt buckle. Oak trees, after all, is the city’s namesake, and is a vital part of their local culture.

The red All-Star jerseys are a love letter to San Francisco, with motifs being centered around its iconic cable car line. There’s the slanted jersey font to represent its climb across the city’s uphill roads, while the side patterns represent the device’s lining across the city. Similar to the blue jerseys’ oak tree, an image of the cable car will be featured on the belt buckle.

The 2025 NBA All-Star logo will appear on all kits, which is inspired by the Golden Gate and Bay Bridges, while a “74th annual” print will appear on top of the jock tags. A small “SF25” tag also appears on the back of the All-Star jerseys.

Dynamic court

The Warriors’ vibrant blue and yellow palette is given prominence in this year’s All-Star Game  court, along with various other symbolisms. There’s the two bridges that pay homage again to the Golden Gate and Bay bridges, or the linings that celebrate the cable cars. The dark blue mid and center court areas, meanwhile, likely represent the 97-kilometer San Francisco Bay.

All in all, the Warriors’ color palettes and symbolisms “generates the dynamic energy and excitement” which aligns with the “NBA’s annual global celebration of the game’s brightest stars.”

The 2025 NBA All-Star Game takes place this February 17 (Philippine time) at the Chase Center in downtown San Francisco. Old reliables in LeBron James, hometown hero Steph Curry, and Kevin Durant will take center stage, along with young stars Anthony Edwards, Jayson Tatum, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander among others.
