By Ramon Domingo - July 06, 2023
The drive for competition lives on whether in-game or on the court.

League of Legends is one of the biggest competitive, multiplayer games in the world. With thousands of players across the globe, it’s very likely that even NBA pros have played a few games of League. The game attracts all kinds of players, and happen to know of three NBA superstars that play League of Legends.

Nikola Jokic is the high-profile name everyone thinks about when you mention League of Legends. And now that he’s successfully won the Denver Nuggets an NBA Championship, we know what he’s going to be up to during the off-season.

The 2023 NBA champion revealed in interviews that he not only plays the game but plays regularly with a close group of friends. There’s just something endearing about this beast of a player still finding time to play video games with friends.

Gordon Hayward

The small forward of the Charlotte Hornets has been an avid League player for quite some time. In fact, he’s such a fan that Riot Games, the developer, and publisher of League of Legends, acknowledged his love for their game.

Riot invited him to the caster desk of the 2017 NA LCS Summer Finals, which was held in Boston. They even made a short tribute video about his triumphant return to the NBA after his almost career-ending leg injury. Gordon’s story with League is a heartwarming one and shows that even pros can be big fans of video games like the rest of us.

Rick Fox didn’t naturally come to play League, unlike our previous pros. Rather, he started playing League as a way to connect and spend more time with his son. From there he was gradually introduced to the world of esports and he even decided to enter the professional scene with his own team known as Echo Fox.

Sadly, internal troubles with his team caused him to move out of professional esports. Despite this, his impression of esports hasn’t soured and he still plays League to bond with his son.
