Serving Off The Taraflex: The 10 Best-Dressed Rookies From The 2024 PVL Draft

By RJ Ballecer - July 09, 2024

Already a part of history, the PVL’s next batch of rookie volleybelles dazzled with their looks for the league’s inaugural Draft night.

After months of anticipation, the first-ever PVL Rookie Draft finally went down with 23 aspirants set to fulfill their dreams of playing professional volleyball. These aspirants are also a part of history as the first-ever PVL draftees, on top of being part of the 47-strong rookie class.

And on the biggest night of their careers to date, these aspirants arrived in fashionable looks that turned the Novotel Manila into their personal runway.

With that, scroll through for some of our favorite looks from the 2024 PVL Draft!

Roma Mae Doromal

PVL Draft best looks: Roma Mae Doromal

Roma Mae Doromal opted for this white top with a pastel pink trouser and a blazer that she turned into an accessory of sorts. Simple, but nonetheless chic for the Capital1 Solar Spikers’ newest libero.

Julia Coronel

PVL Draft best looks: Julia Coronel

Julia Coronel’s potential as a fashionista was on full blast with this sophisticated black off-shoulder gown complete with silky textures. Alongside Thea Gagate, we’ll have to wait a while for Julia to show off her growth as a player for Galeries Tower due to her Alas Pilipinas commitments.

Pierre Abellana

PVL Draft best looks: Pierre Abellana

Farm Fresh’s Pierre Abellana looked classy in this black dress that was accentuated by light gold jewelry, and a black mini handbag, making it perfect for a nighttime event with a formal dress code.

Leila Cruz

PVL Draft best looks: Leila Cruz

One of the four La Sallian lottery picks, Leila Cruz wore this elegant white dress as she was picked second overall by Capital 1. Now, here’s to hoping that Leila will also have a fashionable comeback when she debuts for the Solar Spikers in the Reinforced Conference.

Steph Bustrillo

Akari’s new spiker Steph Bustrillo opted for this glittery maroon dress on Draft night. Who knows, maybe she also wanted to celebrate her UP roots by choosing this particular color, right?

Maicah Larroza

PVL Draft best looks: Maicah Larroza

Maicah Larroza solidified LaSallian dominance in a contemporary take on formal wear: an open suit jacket and flared trousers. With fashion being an avenue for self-expression, perhaps Maicah is giving us a glimpse into an outgoing personality with this look for the PVL Draft.

Aleiah Torres

Creamline’s newest libero Aleiah Torres arrived in this bright yellow silk gown, which is rather fitting given her new team’s “Happy? Happy!” mantra!

Razel Aldea

PVL Draft best looks: Razel Aldea

In another sophisticated look, here’s former Perpetual star Razel Aldea with a light gold gown complete with linear patterns. Razel’s choice paid off in the end, as she was selected by the NXLed Chameleons in the second round.

Nikka Yandoc

The newest Zus Coffee setter Nikka Yandoc rocked this beige suit that also features a cropped jacket. Similar to Roma Doromal, less is more likely to motivate Nikka as she chose her look for the PVL draft.

Thea Gagate

Last but not least is top overall pick Thea Gagate, who wore this sparkly full-sleeve dress as she was (officially) drafted by Zus Coffee. Thea also made history as the PVL’s first-ever number-one draftee, so it’s only right that she didn’t hesitate to glam up for this night.
