Past meets present through the NBA’s City Edition jerseys.
As a love letter to each team’s past, present and future, the NBA City Edition jerseys have become fan favorites since its initial introduction during the 2017-2018 NBA season. After all, most designs dig deep into the archives, while giving it a modern twist that makes it perfect for the current generation of NBA fans.
Unlike past seasons, the 2025-26 City jerseys are “remixes” of past designs. It’s safe to say that the league understood the assignment, as most of these “remixed” jerseys actually improve upon the original. Some teams, meanwhile, have used this opportunity to reintroduce some fan-favorites with little to no tweaks, giving fans another chance to add these to their collections.
With the 2025-26 City Edition jerseys gradually hitting the court, here are 10 that have caught our attention at The GAME.
Cleveland Cavaliers
Starting off our list are the Cleveland Cavaliers, who will rock an updated version of their 2022-23 City jerseys. From a white and gold combination three seasons ago, the Cavs will now be rocking pastel orange threads that reference Cleveland’s beautiful sunrise and sunsets, along with the picturesque foliage that surrounds the Cleveland Metroparks during the fall.
Oklahoma City Thunder
OKC’s 2025-26 NBA City jerseys pay homage to the indigenous culture of Oklahoma, which is highlighted through geometric designs that celebrate both the city and its rich Native American history.
These jerseys actually improve on the 2018-2019 design, which came in a light blue base during Russell Westbrook’s final season with the Thunder.
Milwaukee Bucks
Cream City returns to Milwaukee, keeping the crisp design that honors the unique bricks that helped build many of the city’s old buildings. These City jerseys were first worn during the 2019-2020 NBA season, or when superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo won his second straight Most Valuable Player award.
Indiana Pacers
There is always something about classic designs looking so good in modern-day settings, and these Indiana Pacers jerseys aren’t any different. For this year’s City jerseys, the Pacers are rocking threads that feature letterings directly lifted from their 1984-1990 uniforms.
That classic “PACERS” lettering is surrounded by color blocking designed by Olympic gold medalist Florence Griffith Joyner, according to the team, while their current logo is remixed with the original 1967 edition on the shorts. A silhouette of Indiana can also be seen by the belt buckle.
Toronto Raptors
From an all-gold design during the 2021-2022 season, the Toronto Raptors are once again celebrating their 2019 title run through their City jerseys. Only this time, the Raptors are going back to the basics, replacing the gold hues with white lines and red accents that celebrate Canadian pride.
And the best part? This color scheme allows the Raptor to wear the exact jersey that the team wore in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals.
Houston Rockets
It didn’t take long for the Rockets to bring back their 2023-24 City jerseys, a clean white design that pays tribute to Houston’s rich basketball history. In case you missed it, the jerseys are inspired by the University of Houston’s “Phi Slama Jama” era, which featured Rockets legends Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler.
A huge dunking astronaut graphic is also included in the design, and pays tribute to Houston’s status as the “Space City”, and the Phi Slama Jama’s explosive style of play.
Minnesota Timberwolves
If the Nets have Biggie Smalls, then the Minnesota Timberwolves have Prince as a lasting cultural icon. Inspired by Prince’s highly-acclaimed Purple Rain album, the Timberwolves will once again return to the City Jerseys they first wore in 2018.
Miami Heat
The white “Miami Vice” jersey was already a hit in 2017, but the Heat took things to a new level by unveiling a black version a season later. Now, those black Vice jerseys are making a return for the current season with a slight twist.
Along with keeping the original design intact, this year’s Miami Vice jerseys will now feature a commemorative patch celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Heat’s 2006 championship, which is embroidered by the waistline.
Brooklyn Nets
As a tribute to the late Notorious B.I.G., the Nets first wore these City Edition jerseys during the 2018-2019 season. Coming in a black base, these jerseys feature the multi-color “Brooklyn Camo” pattern, which is inspired by Biggie, and the cultural diversity of the Nets’ fanbase, according to the team.
An updated “BED-STUY” wordmark also appears near the jock tag — a design cue that shouts out the neighborhood that Biggie grew up in.
Phoenix Suns
Rounding up our list is the Phoenix Suns’ City Edition jersey, a return of “The Valley” design they debuted during the 2020-21 season. These jerseys are synonymous to the Suns’ rebirth, as after years of being cellar-dwellers, they went on to make the NBA Finals while wearing these slick threads.
Fingers crossed, but we hope that “The Valley” can also become a staple in the Suns’ jersey rotation down the line.
