World-Class Kicks: What Shoes Are the Team USA Men Wearing at the FIBA World Cup?

By Annika Caniza - August 31, 2023

Team USA is among the favorites to win the 2023 FIBA World Cup. Here are the shoes the players are using to get them all the way to the Finals.

Team USA has definitely been one of, if not the most high-profile squad of the FIBA World Cup, given their all-NBA roster. And as some of the most well-known names in the tournament, the eyes of many basketball fans tuned into the competition have been glued to them. But have you noticed their shoes?

Whether they’re rocking team colors or showing off their own personal style, Team USA’s shoes at the FIBA World Cup are undoubtedly helping them get the job done.

Cam Johnson

Cam Johnson has been sporting the Kobe 4 Protro “Mambacita” at the 2023 FIBA World Cup, shoes that Nike released just earlier this year on Gigi Bryant’s birthday to honor her memory. The design of these kicks features details that represent the young talent who dreamed of changing the WNBA, such as the gold number 2 printed on the back heel, and a gold Mamba logo on the tongue.

Austin Reaves

Earlier this year, Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves dropped his signature shoe line, the Rigorer AR1. Not every player in the NBA gets his own shoe line, so this was a big moment for Reaves, and so, how could he miss the opportunity to show them off at the 2023 FIBA World Cup?

While his shoe line is relatively young, the details of its design are unmistakable. But, the pair that he’s been rocking in Manila looks like a unique colorway; the red and blue details on the white base seem like a nod to this historic event and the honor of representing Team USA.

Anthony Edwards

Austin Reaves isn’t the only one rocking Team USA’s colors on his shoes, as Anthony Edwards shows off his unique pair of adidas BYW Select. Given that Nike is the official team sponsor of the United States National Team, Edwards is one of the few on the squad who has been wearing adidas shoes at the 2023 FIBA World Cup, and adidas certainly made it special with this exclusive Team USA colorway.

Paolo Banchero

When Jayson Tatum released his signature shoe, the Jordan Tatum 1 (JT1) during the last All-Star weekend, he dropped a series of different bright and bold colorways, each one representing an element of his personal life. But later in the year, he released an all-white “Pure Money” version.

The all-white “Pure Money” colorway was popularized by the Air Jordan 4s back in 2006, and Paolo Banchero is giving it a comeback fitting for this generation of young players and future superstars.

Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, and Tyrese Haliburton

We’ve got three players on the United States squad sporting the Nike Kobe 6 Protro “Team USA” — of course. Much like Reaves’ and Edwards’ shoes, the red-white-and-blue colorway on these Kobe 6s matches the occasion perfectly, especially as this is the first time that these players are competing for Team USA at the FIBA World Cup.
