Off-court hustle: Naomi Osaka is the queen of brand deals

Naomi Osaka is not just a multi-Grand Slam champion, she is a global icon. Many brands want to rep her label, and here are the ones that do.

Naomi Osaka just launched her second collection with Levi’s, and we are so here for it.

The collection is based on her own ideas and sketches, and it features denim everything—jackets, skirts, coats, jeans, and tops.

While some of you might be more accustomed to seeing your favorite players repping athleisure or activewear, Naomi Osaka is a fashion icon. Off the court, she hits the covers of magazines and the red carpet.

In 2021, she was even named the highest-paid female athlete ever, a large chunk of what she earned coming from endorsements.

But if you need any more proof that the Japanese-Haitian is more than just a tennis player, here are some of her brand deals and collaborations from this year alone.

Tag Heuer

In January this year, Tag Heuer released a new Aquaracer in collaboration with Naomi Osaka.

And yes, she designed it herself. In her Instagram caption, she describes the use of the color green as “elegant and in a way to reflect two of my current passions – tennis and nature”.

And that’s the unique thing about all her brand deals—they all speak to a different side of her personality off the court.

The watch was released as a limited edition, so if you want to cop one, it may be difficult considering it is now sold out.

Fortnite

As surprising as it may sound, yes, Naomi Osaka did a collaboration with Fortnite. And honestly, it made me want to start playing the game, myself.

The multi-Grand Slam champion joined Fortnite’s “Icon Series”, where personalities like Bruno Mars and even Lebron James have created their own line of outfits and accessories for characters in the game.

Her collection in the Icon Series was a reflection inspired by her two cultures: Japanese and Haitian. This might be one of our favorites (and definitely one of the most unique) collabs she’s done.

Nike

And of course, her brand deal with Nike is one of her most popular. We saw her sporting the collection in the French Open this year, and it really made us want the matching set.

But this wasn’t her first Nike collaboration. In the past, she’s also released a line of tennis shoes with Nike, the NikeCourt Air Zoom GPs.

And if we learned anything from her Tag Heuer collaboration, we now know why she loves repping the color green.

This year, Naomi Osaka has already teamed up with multiple brands. But what makes her stand out is that with every collaboration, she sprinkles bits of her personality. She lets us in on a different side of who she is, not as a player, but as an individual.
