Top beach volleyball and blind football players will be playing their hearts out against a stunning backdrop thanks to the Eiffel Tower Stadium.
When the Paris Olympics kicks off on July 26, some of the top athletes will have the privilege of playing at some of France’s cultural jewels, with historical landmarks and stadiums accounting for 13 of the 35 venues to be used for this year’s Summer Games.
Among those is the Eiffel Tower Stadium, which will host beach volleyball games for the Olympics, and blind football for the Paralympics. One of two temporary fields built on the Champ-de-Mars, players will be chasing Olympic glory with one of France’s most iconic landmarks being in their peripheral views.
The vision is realized
Just recently, official photos of the Eiffel Tower Stadium have been unveiled, which finally gives us a view beyond artistic renderings. As is, it was already an interesting concept to have a venue before the Eiffel Tower, so what more now that it’s been translated to real life?
Here are some official looks at this year’s home for Olympic beach volleyball and Paralympic blind football.
Without question, the Eiffel Tower Stadium will be one of the most picturesque Olympic venues once it’s all said and done in Paris. Now just imagine the in-game photos that will be produced from this venue, right? Surely high-intensity matches before a stunning view will make for a perfect combination.
And if the Eiffel Tower Stadium is just as perfect in real life, then what more about the other historical landmarks too like the La Concorde sporting park, or the Grand Palais’ long-awaited comeback?
