Here’s How You Can Watch The Paris Olympics From The Philippines

By RJ Ballecer - July 12, 2024

Whether at home, or on the go, here’s how you can watch our Filipino athletes in Paris as they attempt to bring home an Olympic medal for the Philippines!

All eyes will be on the Filipino delegates as they enter the Paris Olympics later this July, representing the Philippines. With a 22-strong delegation, our athletes will attempt to have another historic medal haul and hopefully, another Filipino gold medalist.

Outside the Philippines, international favorites will also be in Paris, such as Team USA’s squad of basketball elites, who will likely face their European NBA brothers. The same goes for volleyball, where we’ll see some teams that recently played in the Volleyball Nations League Manila leg.

Fortunately, Filipino fans won’t have to miss out on any of the action! With several platforms committing to broadcast the Olympics later this month, you can be sure you’ll be able to watch anytime, and anywhere!

Smart Livestream App

First up is the Smart Livestream App, which will be streaming the entire Paris Olympics for free, beginning with the Opening Ceremonies on July 26, all the way to the Closing Ceremony on August 11! All you need to do is download the app, and you’ll be able to watch their 24/7 broadcast of the Paris Olympics from the Philippines.

And yes, Smart Livestream will also be available to subscribers of all networks, also for free!

“We are thrilled to bring the world’s biggest sporting event to every Filipino wherever they are, enabling them to watch, support, and share the exciting journey of our national team as they give their best and go for gold,” said Alex O. Caeg, Head of Consumer Wireless Business at Smart.

OneSports

OneSports will also have its own extensive coverage of the Paris Olympics, as one of Cignal’s main assets for free-to-air television broadcasting alongside RPTV. High-definition viewing, meanwhile, will be available through OneSports Plus, which is the network’s pay TV alternative.

For social media-heavy fans, content will also be posted on One Sports’ Facebook and YouTube pages according to a Cignal media release last June.

Pilipinas Live

While we’ve yet to see the full breakdown of what they will be highlighting, Cignal’s live streaming app Pilipinas Live will also be providing Filipino fans access to the events anytime and anywhere. Alongside Smart Livestream, this means we’ll now have two digital options to consider once Paris kicks off!

Other platforms?

Local Olympics viewing doesn’t stop with these three platforms. Aside from One Sports, Cignal TV subscribers will have exclusive access to “three Olympic Games dedicated 24/7 channels” according to the conglomerate last June.

Within the Smart ecosystem, “select events” shall also be streamed live on Smart Sports and Puso Pilipinas Facebook pages. Over at PLDT, their Home bundle subscribers will have an exclusive offer to avail of “multiple channels via IPTV”.

TV5 will also provide coverage through “news features and highlights”. As Cignal official James Meneses told The GAME, their reporters will be embedded within the delegation, starting with their ongoing training camp in Metz, France.

“We promise to deliver the biggest coverage for Paris 2024, the best which only the Filipino athlete deserve as we witness them display their athletic prowess before the world,” Cignal & MediaQuest President & CEO Jane J. Basas said in a media release last June.

Simply put, there will be a number of ways to ensure we can all watch our sporting heroes’ Paris Olympics performances, all from the comfort of our homes in the Philippines. Doesn’t that get us even more excited for this year’s games?
