Career-High Alert! Joel Embiid drops 59 points against Utah Jazz

By Annika Caniza - November 14, 2022

Joel Embiid held nothing back in the 76ers’ game against the Utah Jazz this morning at the Wells Fargo Center, as he recorded a career-high 59 points to lead the team’s 105-98 win.

At the halfway mark of the game, the 76ers trailed the Jazz by six points. But by the end of the third quarter, they had tied the scores, Embiid leading the effort. Out of his 59 points, he scored 26 in the final period of the game to take home the win.

In addition, Embiid was the only player from the Philadelphia side to score in just over the last six minutes of the game.

Scoring over half the team’s points and on top of that, he nearly reached a triple-double as he also recorded 11 rebounds, eight assists, and seven blocks. He truly led the charge for the 76ers today.

But this isn’t just a career-high moment for Embiid. It’s also the first time for an NBA player to score at least 50 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, and five blocks in a single game in the league’s recorded history.

In addition, Joel Embiid’s performance today is also the Philadelphia 76ers’ fifth-best in their franchise’s history in terms of scoring. Wilt Chamberlain holds the top three records, followed by Allen Iverson at fourth, and now, Embiid at fifth.

Truly, this was a Sunday to remember for Joel Embiid, the 76ers, and the NBA.
