After eliminating Atlanta in Game 6, the Boston Celtics will face the Philadelphia 76ers in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Although the Atlanta Hawks did not make it easy for them, the Boston Celtics have successfully advanced to the Eastern Conference Semifinals, narrowly avoiding a Game 7 in the first round of the Playoffs.
In Game 6 of the Celtics-Hawks series, both teams were continuously trading buckets and swapping leads throughout the entire game, keeping the scoreline tight.
The fourth quarter saw 22 lead changes and 15 ties, and fans were left unsure who would wind up in the lead by the final buzzer. However, in the final minutes, the Celtics, incredibly, found a jolt of energy, sending them on a run that bought them a 128-120 victory.
With the win, the Celtics have turned out the lights on Atlanta’s season and will advance to the East Semifinals.
Celtics vs. 76ers — here’s what to know:
It’s going to be No. 2 versus No. 3 in round two of the NBA Playoffs, as the Boston Celtics will be going up against the Philadelphia 76ers in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Although the Celtics will be coming in as favorites as the second-seed, and as the defending Eastern Conference Champions, the team will need to tighten up their defense as they face the 76ers, especially after a tiring series against the Hawks.
The third-seed 76ers have been locked into the Semifinals since Sunday, April 23, after sweeping the Brooklyn Nets in a 4-0 series, giving them a slight edge. However, Philadelphia has still been waiting on Joel Embiid to recover his sprained LCL, with the likely MVP’s status still up in the air.
