Gilas Pilipinas has successfully ended their redemption hunt at the 2023 SEA Games, taking home the men’s 5-on-5 basketball gold medal!

The Philippines finished a redeeming run at the 2023 SEA Games, capping it off on a major high note with a victory against the hosts, Cambodia, to reclaim the gold medal in the five-on-five basketball tournament.
The Gilas men managed to pull off a decisive win to make their way back to the SEA Games throne. It was Justin Brownlee who led the team, scoring 23 points in the Philippines’ 80-69 win. Adding to this, Chris Newsome and Marcio Lassiter also hit double digits, scoring 16 and 10 points, respectively.
This gold medal finish marks a big comeback for Gilas Pilipinas after falling to Indonesia in the finals to settle for silver, ending the nation’s long-running streak. Now, the Philippines is back on top of Southeast Asia.
