Jonathan Majors Takes on Role of Dennis Rodman in New Biopic

By Annika Caniza - March 09, 2023
Dennis Rodman is one of the NBA’s most eccentric characters, and Jonathan Majors will need to bring that character to life on the big screen.

Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman is not only one of the best players in NBA history, but he is also one of the league’s most eccentric characters.

Soon, Rodman will be coming to the big screen with a new upcoming movie, 48 Hours in Vegas, where Jonathan Majors will be taking on the responsibility of bringing his character to life.

What is 48 Hours in Vegas about?

Dennis Rodman is a five-time NBA champion, a two-time NBA All-Star, and a Hall of Famer — accolades all due to the dominance he always showed up with on the court.

But Rodman was also known as a little bit of a wild card. As an athlete, he was definitely unpredictable, both on and off the court.

48 Hours in Vegas hopes to capture this side of Rodman’s personality.

According to recent reports, the title of the upcoming biopic tells you exactly what it will be about. The film will center on a two-day Las Vegas trip that Dennis Rodman went on right in the middle of their 1998 NBA Finals campaign.

Allegedly, the power forward took a little trip to Vegas with some of his friends after asking their head coach at the time, Phil Jackson, for a break.

In fact, former teammate Michael Jordan alluded to this on the famous Netflix docuseries, The Last Dance.

“When Scottie was out, Dennis was a model citizen, to the point where it was driving him insane… So, when Scottie came back, Dennis wanted to take a vacation,” Jordan shared on the series.

With this, we can expect that 48 Hours in Vegas will give us an inside scoop into what really went down in that spur-of-the-moment trip.

What else do we know?

The film, being produced by Lionsgate, reportedly has Jonathan Majors lined up to take on the role of Dennis Rodman in 48 Hours in Vegas.

Majors is a Hollywood actor who has recently been starring in many hit films, including Creed III and Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

In the recently released Creed III, Majors took on the role of boxing prodigy Damian Anderson, who faces off against protagonist Adonis Creed.

Now, the Yale-educated actor is going to have to switch his acting hats, coming from the role of a boxer, and entering the mind of one of the NBA’s most interesting personalities.

“This is definitely a role where I’m definitely going to make sure I’m pushing that ceiling out,” Majors said, discussing the film. “Because he demands that. He’s such a full individual. So, he’s going to demand a lot.”

Do you think Jonathan Majors will be able to pull off the role?
