Local Basketball League Gets Boost, Inks Deal With Global Sports Brand

By The Game Team - May 02, 2023
Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball Association (more commonly known as MPBL) has just landed a landmark deal with global sports brand ANTA to be their official outfitter for 3 years.

The contract signing event between ANTA and the MPBL, which was held at the brand’s flagship store at SM Megamall, was attended by the league’s executives and a collection of the league’s younger superstars.

ANTA has been steadily making waves in the local basketball scene. Over the past couple of years, they have made themselves present in not just the professional leagues but the collegiate and high school levels as well. And now with this three-year partnership with the MPBL, they have just successfully penetrated the most popular semi-pro league in the land.

“ANTA’s priority is to partner with top professional basketball leagues in the Philippines,” ANTA General Manager JP Paglinawan shared with The GAME. “As a brand very strong in the basketball category, partnering with MPBL aligns with this and strengthens our position as a leader in this field.”

To further sweeten the partnership, MPBL Commissioner Kenneth Duremdes also had this to say about the newly minted deal:

Iyong goal po ng liga, ayun din po ang goal ng ANTA — together we grow. Sana samahan ninyo kami doon at abangan ninyo lahat ng mga games naming diyan sa mga provinces.”

As Commissioner Duremdes pointed out, this partnership effectively brings ANTA closer to the basketball community nationwide. Likewise, this also opens more doors to basketball fans and aspirants to the brand’s other sports-driven activities.

“The long-term vision here is to participate in the process of designing the league uniforms and merchandise,” Paglinawan further explained. “Expect to see more integration of ANTA into the league’s events, games, and activities.

Apart from these strategic tie-ups with the country’s local basketball entities, ANTA also introduced an exciting new basketball format called “Shock The Game” which debuted last year. We were told that the said tournament will be back this year, bigger and better with go.

We’ll be watching out for what we’re sure are exciting activities to come out of this marquee partnership.
