By Annika Caniza - February 16, 2023
The University of Perpetual Help retired the jersey of their former star player, Scottie Thompson, on their 48th Foundation Day on February 16, 2023.

After being named the PBA MVP, and with his seven championships with Barangay Ginebra, Scottie Thompson is one of the Philippines’ most successful basketball stars and is definitely one of the best products to come out of the University of Perpetual Help.

To distinguish his career achievements and to honor his roots, Perpetual has retired the No. 6 jersey, formerly worn by Thompson, to celebrate their 48th Foundation Day at the Home of the Atlas gymnasium.

Hundreds of students and fans flocked to the gymnasium to celebrate and honor one of the school’s best players.

From 2011 to 2015, Scottie Thompson represented The University of Perpetual Help and was named the NCAA MVP in Season 88 in 2014. In that season, he led the team to the Final Four of the tournament and was also a part of the Mythical 5.

Because of his impressive collegiate playing career, he was the fifth overall pick in the 2015 PBA Draft, drafted by Barangay Ginebra San Miguel.
