The M6 World Championships will feature a long-awaited homecoming at the historic Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
After five years, the Mobile Legends World Championship, or M-Series will be heading back to its original home in Malaysia this November.
Following the 2024 Midseason Cup, Moonton announced that Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur will house the M6 World Championship’s semifinals and grand finals, marking the return to a historic ground in Mobile Legends esports history.
“M-Series is back in Malaysia and we are as excited as you are to witness this incredible event. We welcome you, selamat datang ke!” Adam Adli, Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports said in a press release.

As mentioned, Axiata Arena is the M-Series’ original home, as it hosted its first-ever iteration (now known as M1) in November 2019. At the time, the championship was bagged by Indonesia’s EVOS Legends as they defeated rivals RRQ Hoshi in a seven-game series while hometown heroes TODAK finished third in that historic tournament.
Now, it remains to be seen as to what the Axiata Arena will witness once the M6 World Championships kicks off in November. Given the Filipino M-Series dominance, will it continue on this historic ground? Or will Axiata Arena see another breakthrough after five years?
Stars aligned?
This development coincides with the Selangor Red Giants’ championship in the 2024 Midseason Cup, where they defeated two-time M-Series champion Falcons AP.Bren from the Philippines.
On top of this, SRG’s Cinderella run is also a breakthrough for Malaysia. According to Moonton, they’re the first Malaysian crew to snag “top honors at a major MLBB esports tournament, with no team from Malaysia having even made it to a Grand Finals before”.

Besides SRG, fellow Malaysian team HomeBois also made it to the MSC playoffs but were knocked out by Indonesia’s NIP Flash in the quarterfinal rounds.
So, who knows? If they broke through in the MSC, what’s stopping a Malaysian team in M6, right? And if it does happen, it will be witnessed on home soil at the Axiata Arena a few months from now.
