A Gallery of Greatness: Looking Back at Previous Philippine MLBB Championship Skins

By Ramon Domingo - January 22, 2025

Showing off nearly half a decade of MLBB dominance.

Nothing shows that the Philippine era of MLBB is still going strong better than the reveal of the fifth entry of our Philippine MLBB championship skins. With ONIC Philippines’ choice of Joy, that’s five different heroes with a championship skin across four different Filipino teams.

What’s interesting is that each one of the Philippine MLBB championship skins represents an epoch in our era of dominance. They tell the stories of the outstanding players and teams that earned their title as world champions. With a fifth one coming soon, we figured it’s a good time to review the history of these skins.

M2 World Championships – Bren Esports

This was where the Philippine era began, with one team rising above the adversity and doubt of others. Despite a shocking upset at the start of the playoffs, Bren Esports proved that not only could they adapt but they clutch it when they needed to the most.

This was also Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno’s peak form as represented by the team’s choice to give Lancelot the championship skin. KarlTzy had the most kills and highest average KDA in M2 thanks to his signature assassin hero at that time.

M3 World Championship – Blacklist International

This tournament showed that the Philippines was not only the best region but also the region that dictated the meta. With the popularization of their UBE (Ultimate Bonding Experience) strategy, Blacklist were able to topple over anyone who got in their way to the world championship trophy.

Picking Estes as the next hero to get a world championship skin was therefore a no-brainer for Blacklist. He’s the support hero that embodies the UBE strategy the most and was Jonmar “OhMyV33NUS” Villaluna’s signature pick. He even has OhMyV33NUS’s iconic crown gesture in his skin showcase.

M4 World Championships – ECHO

Next on the list of Philippine MLBB championship skins is Chou representing the loveable youngbloods, ECHO. They were actually entering the tournament as the runner-ups to Blacklist but they really found their groove in M4. So much so that they were able to upset Blacklist with a 4-0 sweep in the grand finals.

Winning M4 also meant that KarlTzy became the first player to win two world championships although the skin wasn’t dedicated to him. That goes to Tristan “Yawi” Cabrera, who held a 100% win rate with Chou throughout the tournament.

M5 World Championship – AP.Bren

Then came AP.Bren, rising from the ashes after their fall from their M2 world championship triumph. They once again proved that their tenacity and trust in each other is what makes them a championship caliber team. Thanks to their hard work they were able to become the first team to be repeat world champions.

They’re also the only team to have two Philippine MLBB championship skins (three if we’re counting David “FlapTzy” Canon’s finals MVP skin). This time around they gave the skin to Brody, the hero Marco “Super Marco” Requitano excelled with. He had a 100% win rate with Brody in hand as well as the most kills in the tournament.
