It Was A Season of Growth for ONIC’s Coach YnoT

Season 15 was a challenging one for ONIC PH, but coach YnoT can only see this as a good thing.

MPL PH S15 has certainly been a rollercoaster ride for ONIC’s coach YnoT as the team finished the regular season in third place. Not exactly the spot people were expecting the M6 world champions to be in, but a strong finish nonetheless.

“It’s been fun, to be honest,” said coach Anthony “YnoT” Senedrin. For him, the conclusion of season 15 leaves him both happy and sad at how things turned out.

Malungkot dahil may teams na hindi naka-show yung strength nila. They were struggling for the majority of the season,” continued ONIC’s coach YnoT.

Nakakatuwa kasi, looking at the top four right now, sobrang competitive. Even though we were third, we won [Snapdragon Mobile Masters]. You have the fourth seed [Team Falcons] na sila yung representative ng [SIBOL]. So I think going into the playoffs, magiging very exciting siya kasi we’re looking at four teams na maganda ang foundation. And we’re looking at two teams who are up-and-coming and they could give us a big surprise.”

Considering how rough the start was for ONIC this season, it’s impressive how they were able to get back to championship form so quickly. In fact, they ended the season with a 10-match win streak, together with their sweep of the Snapdragon Mobile Masters. However, that was only enough to land them in third place, which ONIC’s coach YnoT believes highlights the strength of the league and his team.

“I’ve been a big fan of competition ever since I was a kid. And nakakatuwa siya kasi pahirapan, lalo na dito when you’re looking at growth. Growth speaks volumes, especially when you’re a coach. I don’t just mean with MLLB careers pero yung constant idea na cha-challenge [yung team], nag gro-grow sila, and it’s definitely something they can bring with them for the rest of their lives.”

As for the playoffs, coach YnoT is taking a holistic approach to the team’s preparations. “Definitely yung mentality namin. Nandyan pa rin yung gigil so kailangan namin i-respect pa rin yung ibang teams. Make sure may tiwala pa rin sila sa isa’t-isa, lalo na papasok sa playoffs.”
