The M6 World Championship could be the start of something incredible for Fnatic ONIC, they just need to seize it.
The year’s not yet over for Fnatic ONIC coach Anthony “YnoT” Senedrin as even though they’re champions, they’ve got a much bigger target in their sights. The M6 World Championship is right around the corner and it’ll be the ultimate test for the super team.
That’s not to say that they weren’t being challenged already here in the MPL PH. Fnatic ONIC’s road to the MPL championship may look dominating but the team had to fight tooth and nail to earn their first title. The team has remained a cohesive whole through that struggle and coach YnoT thanks his luck that they’re so united.
“Nung na-acquire namin yung tatlong bagong players this season, we didn’t really know their attitude and personality. So it’s a blessing na nabigyan kami ng mga players na nag-jive talaga.” Fnatic ONIC has tried time and again to find that winning lineup and it seems they’ve finally found it. “It’s really a once in a generation kind of thing, yung team na to. Nasa amin na lang paano namin tratrabahoin yung dynasty na sinabi ko kanina.”
As strong as the team may have looked, Fnatic ONIC were pushed to their absolute limit by Aurora Gaming. It became one of the most memorable grand finals in MPL history because of how close the two teams looked.
When asked how Aurora was able to pull this off despite how mismatched they looked in the regular season, coach YnoT had a simple reply. “Puso talaga. I think Renejay plays a really big part sa ganun, kitang-kita talaga sa laro nila. Yung tapang nandyan tapos ang galing talaga yung adjustments nila.”
Getting Ready to Face Greater Challenges
As the Fnatic ONIC coach, YnoT could not stop praising Aurora for how well they adapted against them. It revealed to the team that there was still more for them to improve on leading up to M6.
“We could have done a lot better during that series,” said coach YnoT. “I really believe that [for the team], yun din nararamdaman nila. Yes, hats off to Aurora, they gave us a big scare and naka-adjust sila but at the end of the day, we know our capabilities. We slipped up and those are yung mga bagay na uusapan namin. Paano namin maiiwasan yung mga pagkakamali and paano namin mai-improve pa yung mga sarili namin.”
And for coach YnoT, there’s absolutely no worry of the team becoming complacent after becoming MPL champions. “At the end of the day, lahat sila gutom, lahat sila uhaw. It was that way bago mag-start yung season and now that dalawang bagong teams ang magre-represent sa M6, I’m pretty sure that they’re even more inspired.”
