AP. Bren’s FlapTzy’s Thoughts Coming into a New Season as a World Champion

By Ramon Domingo - February 27, 2024

The young EXP Laner had a stellar performance last year and he has no plans of slowing down.

AP.Bren’s David “FlapTzy” Canon is entering the MPL PH S13 with a lot of laurels on his head. He’s one of the first-ever two-time world champions on the first-ever two-time world champion team and the M5 grand finals MVP to boot. Even without counting AP.Bren’s other achievements last year are a lot of prestige for a 19-year-old.

You could say that there’s a lot of pressure on AP.Bren and FlapTzy to keep that championship-level performance in the MPL PH S13. FlapTzy seems unfazed by it, however, it’s still business as usual for him. “Kung ano yung dati, ganun pa din. Siguro mas-marami na ngayon yung naga-acknowledge sa akin.

Keeping a cool head is one thing, but it’s also easy to slip into complacency once you’re at the top. So how does FlapTzy stay motivated? The answer is actually quite simple: “Gustong-gusto ko manalo.” Money and fame are one thing but it’s clear that it’s FlapTzy’s competitive drive that keeps him on his toes. “Nakaka addict yung feeling ng manalo. Yun din nagmo-motivate sa akin kasi gusto ko manalo palagi.

Of course, money still plays a major role in keeping him motivated. When asked about the new Mid Season Cup and its three million USD prize pool, FlapTzy says that “Yun din ang isang factor kung bakit ako nagigigil. Lalo kasi Middle East na yung venue, tapos malaki yung event kaya mas lalo ako ginaganahan.

As for what he’s looking forward to the most in the MPL PH S13, FlapTzy candidly said “na mag-champion ulit kami ng team ko.
