It’s been a hard first half of the season but AP.Bren is still hopeful.
AP.Bren Jamespangks and the rest of the team can breathe a sigh of relief as they managed to score one win before the end of the first half of the MPL PH S15. After week after week of almost-there’s, AP.Bren finally got a match victory against Omega Esports.
Despite it being a 2-0 sweep, it was clear there were a lot of nerves at play for AP.Bren. Jungler Jonathan “Jamespangks” Mendoza revealed as much, saying that there was a lot of joy and relief riding on this first win.
“Sa totoo lang, sobrang saya talaga [na nanalo kami]. Sobrang relief din kasi nailabas namin yung laro namin tapos napakita namin na kaya namin sumabay sa MPL.”
“Na pinpoint namin ano yung kulang sa amin,” continued AP.Bren Jamespangks. “Yung paano namin tapusin yung game at yung galaw namin sa early game.”
Indeed, the team has looked like they’ve been improving game after game. However, victory has been elusive until now, and it seems the team’s difficulties don’t lie solely in their mechanics.
Recall that this version of the AP.Bren squad used to be Lazy Esports from the developmental league. After winning the MDL, the whole team was promoted to the MPL by AP.Bren but their promotion also brought questions of whether or not they’re actually ready for the big leagues.
Now that we’re halfway through the season, AP.Bren Jamespangks reflects on the team’s struggles so far. “Sa tingin ko, hindi naman masyadong different [yung difficulty] pero may magkakaiba talaga. Mas mahirap lang sa MPL dahil bago kami lahat tapos kinakaba pa rin kami sa stage. Pero paunti-unti nakukuha namin ulit yung tempo namin.”
As for his prediction for the rest of the season: “100% kaya pa namin mag playoffs. Kasi eto lang yung inaantay namin, yung manalo kami ng isa para madala namin sa mga susunod na laban.”
