Valuable lessons were learned during M6 and Aurora is looking to use them.
As the start of MPL PH S15 draws closer, Aurora coach MtB is looking to build upon last year’s successes and failures to guide his team to victory.
Coach Aniel “Master the Basics” Jiandani has had a long break to reflect on their early M6 exit. A disappointing end to the season but it’s where he learned that experience really does go a long way.
“Yun yung isa sa mga natutunan namin,” said Aurora coach MtB. “First time ng Aurora mag international sa MLBB pero iba pa rin pagdating sa M-series.”

Considering that Aurora is made up of MPL veteran players, some already with international experience, it’s strange that this is the lesson that they learned. However, coach MtB emphasized that there’s a difference between individual and team experience. Gelling together as a team takes time, especially when you’re facing some of the best teams in the world. Plus, M6 itself threw curveballs that every team had to deal with.
“It’s the first time sa M-series meron tayong Swiss stage. Sobrang daming kailngan i-adjust at hindi lang kami, ang dami din teams na nag-adjust. Siguro lang na hindi kami naka-adapt as quickly compared to sa regular season.”
Sticking to What Works
Aurora coach MtB also admitted that their initial strategy for M6 didn’t yield the results that they wanted. “Meron kaming ginawa that time na never namin ginawa sa lahat ng international tournaments namin. Yun yung masyado naming in-overthink yung lahat.”

Together with the format changes in M6, it’s easy to see how a team can get overwhelmed by all the things they need to account for. “Based on our experiences before, hindi siya talaga nakatulong sa amin. So ngayon, instead of focusing on isang bagay or ano yung dapat o hindi dapat gawin, stick to routine na lang kami. Hindi naman namin kailangan magdagdag or magbawas; sa routine naman kami lumalakas.”
Ultimately, the experience of playing on the biggest MLBB stage in the world was invaluable for Aurora Gaming. “Ito yung international experience kailangan namin. Kasi may experience na kami sa MPL dahil sa season 14 so uulitin lang namin yung ginawa namin for season 15.”
And with that experience, Aurora and coach MtB will be aiming to rise even higher this upcoming season.
