It’s been a surprising season but none more so than for Blacklist International.
Blacklist International are truly being tested now that we’re at the last week of the MPL PH S13 regular season. There’s only one last spot left for the playoffs and it’s not as guaranteed to be in Blacklist’s hands as one might expect.
The top four positions have been a relatively close race between AP.Bren, ECHO, ONIC Philippines, and RSG Philippines. Blacklist has been out of that race for a while now despite a decent start to the season. They have continually dropped games against teams they should be able to beat while not putting up much of a fight against the top teams of the league. It’s because of these lackluster performances that Blacklist now find themselves possibly not making it to the playoffs.
At a match score of 5-7, Blacklist are tied with Minana EVOS at fifth and sixth but since EVOS has the better game win percentage, they have the better placement. Right below them is Omega Esports at 3-9. Every team is playing their last two matches of the regular season and Blacklist don’t have an easy road ahead of them. They’ll be facing ECHO and RSG, two teams that they went 0-2 against. In comparison, Omega are facing TNC Pro Team, the last place team, and EVOS, who have looked just as shaky as Blacklist.
There is a world where Blacklist can actually miss out on the MPL PH S13 playoffs. This would be a devastating outcome as the team has not missed a playoffs since season nine. And while the math still points to them barely making it in, we can only imagine the pressure they’re facing to not fumble at the last step.
Will Blacklist pull through? We’ll find out later this weekend.
