Bren Esports: The Deadliest Veterans of the MPL PH

By Ramon Domingo - July 13, 2023
Teams may come and go but Bren Esports is here to stay.

There are few teams that have a history as long and storied as Bren Esports in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League in the Philippines (MPL PH). The MPL PH has been running for five years with a total of 12 seasons, and Bren Esports has been there every step of the way.

Originally team Aether Main, the season one MPL PH champions, Bren acquired the roster and entered the fray in season two. Heavy hitters from the get-go, the team would later reach their full potential in 2020 with the inclusion of three key players: Mid Laner Angelo “Pheww” Arcangel, EXP Laner David “FlapTzy” Canon, and coach Francis “Ducky” Glindro.

These three would form the core of the Bren Esports team and would lead them to great heights. In that same year, Bren would become the season six MPL PH champions. The following year they would win the M2 World Championships and establish Philippine dominance in the Mobile Legends pro scene.

The level of competition in the MPL PH has only improved since then yet Bren Esports has remained a threat. They may have fallen short in claiming another MPL PH trophy multiple times but they’ve managed to earn glory in other avenues.

Let’s not forget that they are the 2023 SEA Games Mobile Legends champions, making it three-in-a-row for the Philippines, with Pheww being the first-ever two-time Mobile Legends gold medalist. They are also participating in the IESF World Esports Championship later this August, with the hope of bringing even more international trophies back to the Philippines.

So it’s not wise to count Bren Esports out. They’ve been a part of the MPL PH scene since the beginning and are more than capable of proving why they are still contenders to this day.
