It’s been a challenging season for everyone in the MPL but Edward feels like they’ve done a good job.
It’s been a hectic first season for veteran EXP Laner Edward Dapadap and his new team of Aurora Gaming despite everyone’s early impressions.
Made up of seasoned players, many thought that Aurora would take the MPL by storm. Instead, they had a respectable fourth-place finish in the regular season after encountering fierce resistance from other top-ranked teams.
When asked how he feels about their debut season, Edward shared that, for him, it was for the most part successful.
“Kasi kung iisipin niyo, yung mga ibang team na first season lang nila, yung placing nila hindi masyado mataas,” said Edward. “Di pa sila masyado nagpe-perform, next season pa sila aarangkada. Kaya yung Aurora medyo successful this season.”
While they certainly wish they could place higher, finishing in fourth place this season was no easy feat. Teams have stepped up hard in season 14 and Edward believes it’s thanks to the meta.
“Yung last meta, tank Junglers pa rin ginagamit. Tapos nung nag-transition yung meta to assassin Junglers, kailangan mag-adjust ng isa pang player maglaro ng tank.” Edward also felt like it took him a while to adjust to this new meta, hence the team’s slow start.
Overall, Aurora did put up an impressive performance throughout the season. However, there is one team that Edward feels has been their kryptonite.
“Si [Fnatic ONIC] lang talaga,” Edward says with an exasperated laugh. “Feeling ko kaya namin talaga sila pero hindi pa kami nakaka-condition ng 100% pag kalaban namin sila. Parang may nakukulang pag kalaban namin sila.”
Still, if Aurora wants to win a championship, they’re likely going to have to face Fnatic ONIC to get there. If they’re going to get over this hurdle, Edward believes that they need a little more discipline.
“Wag lang kalimutan yung mga maliliit na bagay. Kasi minsan yun yung nagpapatalo sa amin. For example: yung mga small details na may player na walang battle spell bago mag-teamfight. Ganun na bagay.”
