Even in the toughest season yet, Owgwen was still able to stand above the rest.
As the reigning MLBB world champions, Falcons AP.Bren and Roamer Rowgien “Owgwen” Unigo have tons of expectations on them. Couple that with every team vying for a spot in the million dollar Mid Season Cup and you’ve got the most competitive MPL PH season yet.
“Kahit yung top-seven, top-eight teams, kayang-kaya mag-compete sa mga playoffs teams,” said Owgwen. “Kaya nung regular season dikit-dikit yung score. Kitang-kita talaga na gusto nila makaabot ng playoffs at maka-champion.”
Despite this stiff competition, Falcons AP.Bren were still able to secure a spot in MSC. Not only that, three members of the team made it to the season 13 All-Star team with Owgwen taking the role of All-Star Roamer.
“I’m pretty confident sa skill ko, pero may mga contender din naman ako,” he said when asked about the award. He points to Fnatic ONIC PH’s Jomearie “Escalera” Santos and Omega Esports’ Joshua “Ch4knu” Mangilog as rivals who really stepped it up this season.
Soaring Higher and Higher
Speaking of stepping up, many eyes were drawn to AP.Bren when they partnered with Falcons, Saudi Arabia’s esports powerhouse. Falcons have been making waves in other esports, proving that they’ve got an eye and, more importantly, expectations for success. However for Owgwen, the Falcons AP.Bren partnership really hasn’t changed much.
“Wala naman kaming nadagdag na pressure. Confident talaga kami na kaya namin makapasok sa MSC at kaya namin harapin kahit sinong team makatapat namin sa playoffs,” said Owgwen. “Tsaka yung pressure, nandyan talaga yan palagi. Hindi yan nawawala. So talagang ‘go with the flow’ lang kami kung anumang mangyari.”
That mentality has certainly proved effective for Owgwen and the team as they’re still considered one of the best teams in the world despite losing to Team Liquid ECHO in the MPL PH S13 grand finals. Falcons AP.Bren are a world-class team and with players like Owgwen in the mix, we can’t wait to see how far they go.
