Don’t sleep on these teams, they might just surprise you.
2023 MSC is around the corner and what makes this year’s event special is the inclusion of three new teams beyond Southeast Asia.
Fire Flux Impunity, Outplay, and Team Occupy all hail from the newest MPL professional regional leagues and we’ve got a quick overview of the teams to get you up to speed.
Fire Flux Impunity
Coming from the recently established MTC Tukiye Championship, these Turkish representatives are no strangers to the international stage. Formerly known as Incendio Supremacy during the M4 World Championships, Fire Flux Impunity is looking to bring the dominance they’ve shown in their regional league to the international stage.
While Fire Flux Impunity went undefeated during their regional playoffs run, it’s worth noting that they’re entering 2023 MSC without Mid Laner Ahmet “Rosa” Batir. Rosa had an outstanding performance during the MTC Turkiye playoffs, winning multiple MVP awards. Time will tell if this change will have a drastic effect on their performance.
Outplay
Representing North America is Outplay, an eclectic team with players from Mexico, South Korea, and the Philippines. While they may be the North America Challenger Tournament (NACT) runner-ups, they’re no slouches when it comes to international competition as they contain members from The Valley, NA’s representatives during the M4 World Championships.
Outplay, formerly known as TheOhioBrothers, went undefeated during the NACT regular season. They would continue their undefeated streak in the playoffs before falling to BloodThirstyKings after going the full 7 games in the NACT grand finals.
Team Occupy
The all-Egyptian squad Team Occupy was once Occupy Thrones back in the M4 World Championships. Returning with a revamped team, they conquered the MPL Middle East and North Africa (MENA) league and are looking to make a deep run in the 2023 MSC.
Team Occupy had a disappointing M4 run, getting knocked out in the second round of the lower bracket. The inclusion of grand finals MVP Gold Laner Belal “Spedyyy” Dahab, together with the leadership of Filipino coach Kevin “Ola” Olavere, has made them a powerhouse in the MENA region. Now they’ll have to pull out all the stops if they want to prove their might on the international stage.
