The MSI playoffs are here, and you won’t want to miss out. We’ve got your back. Here’s a quick primer to get you ready for all the action.
The 2023 MSI playoffs are officially underway, and we thought it’d be a good idea to give you a quick rundown on the action taking place in the Copperbox in London, United Kingdom.
So, here are the things you need to know about the awaited tournament!
The Playoffs Bracket
After a week of intense action in the play-ins stage, we have our eight playoff teams. Five of them immediately qualified due to being the top placers in their respective regions, while the remaining three fought their way in from the play-ins.
NOTE: Korea’s second seed automatically advances into the playoffs bracket due to a Korean team winning the 2022 World Championship.
Korea
- T1 (#1 seed)
- Gen. G (#2 seed)
China
- JD Gaming (#1 seed)
- Bilibili Gaming (#2 seed, advanced from play-ins)
Europe (EMEA)
- MAD Lions (#1 seed)
North America
- Cloud9 (#1 seed)
- Golden Guardians (#2 seed, advanced from play-ins)
All matches will be a best-of-five series. The playoffs are a double elimination bracket where the winners of the upper bracket and lower bracket finals face off to see who becomes the 2023 MSI champion.
The Patch
MSI is playing on patch 13.8 with two big champion bans. Newcomer Milio and the recently revamped Yuumi are disabled from competitive play following the official LoL Esports policy on new champions and Visual and Gameplay Updates (VGUs).
