It’s a Rough Season for Team Secret With an Early VCT Pacific Kickoff Exit

By Ramon Domingo - January 28, 2025

The Adobo Gang has eight weeks to figure out what they need to do to turn their season around.

Team Secret’s early season woes continue as they drop out of the VCT Pacific Kickoff tournament as it’s approaching its midpoint. The struggling Pinoy team leaves the competition with a 0-2 match record despite clear moments of brilliance.

Things were already looking shaky for Team Secret after their poor performance at the APAC Predator League 2025. There was a hope that the team could fix their mistakes in time for VCT Pacific Kickoff and in some ways that came true.

In their first match against Global Esports they looked clean and crisp, taking game one with a convincing 13-3 win. However, bad habits and careless plays consistently caused them to lose control of the match. Despite the heroics of Jessie “JessieVash” Cuyco, who even earned his 1,000th VCT kill in that match, Team Secret couldn’t pull through and lost to Global Esports 2-1.

It would be a similar story for them in their match against Rex Regum Qeon in the lower bracket. Game one was not as clear-cut but they were still victorious with a 13-9 score. The next two were much more painful for Team Secret with both games ending at 13-4 for RRQ.

With this loss, Team Secret are not only out of the VCT Pacific Kickoff tournament but it’s also their worst record in their VCT history.

The team will really need to dig deep if they want to address their problems during their two month downtime. They need all players to play on a consistently high level instead of relying on one or two players to carry them to a win. Hopefully by the time VCT Stage 1 starts we’ll see a more polished and confident Team Secret.
