It’s the midpoint of the VCT and it’s time for teams to put up or shut up.
It’s time for the best Valorant teams in the world to square up as they head for Masters Shanghai.
After weeks of grinding through their international leagues, the top three teams from around the world are now playing on the biggest stage in history.
Starting May 23, teams from the Americas, China, EMEA, and the Pacific will converge at the Mercedes-Benz Arena. There, we will witness the rise of the Masters Shanghai champion but first play through the Swiss stage.
First off, the champion team from each region will get a bye into the playoffs stage. The remaining eight will then be paired up to start the first round of the Swiss stage.
To advance to the next stage, each team will need to secure two wins before they accumulate two losses. Each match will be a best-of-three series, meaning teams will need to quickly adapt to get the upper hand.
Those that make it out of the Swiss stage will join the champions of each region in the playoffs stage. Here it will be a double elimination bracket with best-of-three matches until the lower and grand finals, where a best-of-five will determine who will walk out the Masters Shanghai champion.
The Growing Powerhouse in the East
This tournament is a landmark event for Valorant esports, especially for the Chinese region. The Mercedes-Benz Arena will be the largest venue in VCT history with a max seating capacity of 18,000.
China has also continuously shown its prowess even before it had its own regional league. At this point, everyone knows about the might of EDward Gaming but now this is their chance to show that they’re more than just a one-team region.
