The young Jungler is ready to prove himself against the best in the MPL.
The MPL PH S13 has been very exciting for ONIC Philippines, especially for King “K1NGKONG” Perez who’s about to make his first playoffs run.
K1NGKONG previously played for TNC Pro Team and while he was frequently described as the shining star in that team that wasn’t enough to get them out of the bottom of the standings. Now that he’s with ONIC, he’s finally getting his chance to show what he’s capable of.
K1NGKONG’s excitement for the playoffs is well earned as ONIC really shined during the MPL S13 regular season. At one point they were on a six-game winning streak, showing that the entire team was locked in for the season.
It’s surprising to think that that wasn’t the case when the team initially formed.
“Biglaan lang talaga kasi bago mag-start yung regular season, medyo malabo-labo pa yung lahat,” said K1NGKONG. “Nag-click lang kami as a team days before ng start ng regular season.” But from that moment on, the team had only one goal and that was to keep winning.
Guided by the Vets
His excitement does come with the fact that he’s treading new waters this offseason. There’s a different kind of pressure that comes with the playoffs compared to the MPL S13 regualr season but luckily for K1NGKONG, he has the rest of ONIC to lean on. Teammates such as Grant “Kelra” Pillas and Jomarie “Escalera” Delos Santos as well as their entire coaching staff are no strangers to this environment and are key in helping him keep his focus.
