Defeating reigning champions Vietnam, Sibol won the first 2023 SEA Games esports gold for the Philippines in League of Legends: Wild Rift.
The Philippines’ team Sibol triumphs over Vietnam 3-1 in the Wild Rift SEA Games tournament. This gold finish is a complete redemption from their disappointing showing last year where they went 0-4 in the group stage.
Vietnam won the gold medal in last year’s SEA Games Wild Rift tournament, going undefeated in both the group stages and playoffs. This makes the Sibol team’s victory all the more impressive as they were the ones to go undefeated in their entire tournament run. They sent Vietnam to the lower bracket in a close 3-2 match before defeating them again in the grand finals.
The grand finals MVP award went to Sibol’s Dragon Laner, Golden “DemonKite” Dajao.
