It’s nothing but clear skies for what looks to be the strongest Dota 2 team of 2024.
It looks like there’s nothing stopping Team Falcons as they’ve become the ESL One Birmingham 2024 champions. This will be the team’s third first place finish in a major tournament, which continues their dominant 2024 run.
Team Falcons came in as a favorite to win ESL Birmingham despite their initial group stage performance. Even though they made it to the upper bracket of playoffs, their majority 1-1 record in groups showed signs of weakness from the team. This slow start would continue against Tundra Esports, who they would fall to with a 1-2.
In the Lower brackets, the Falcons would fight tooth and nail against Team Liquid and OG to get their rematch against Tundra in the lower bracket finals. There they would handily beat Tundra 2-0 before facing BetBoom Team in the grand finals. The Falcons have been BetBoom’s kryptonite throughout the year and this was their chance to finally take one over them.
Unfortunately, the Falcons continued to prove why they look like the best Dota 2 team in the world right now. Despite an initially good-looking two games, BetBoom could not stop going 3-0 once again to Team Falcons, crowning them as the ESL One Birmingham 2024 champions.
Locking In Riyadh Masters 2024
With ESL Birmingham in the books, the first five teams to make it to Riyadh Masters 2024 have been decided.
Despite the loss, BetBoom sits at the top of the list followed by Falcons, Xtreme Gaming, Gaimin Gladiators, and Team Liquid. OG, Team Spirit, and Tundra are still in the running but it’s tenuous at best.
It’s all coming down to DreamLeague Season 23 happening later this May. It’ll be teams’ last chance to get enough points to claim the last three spots for a direct invite to Riyadh Masters.
