They took a blow to the chin but got right back up, ready to keep going.
Team Liquid is looking scarier than ever this M7 after their clean sweep of Myanmar’s Yangon Galacticos to qualify for the playoffs. A wild thing to say, considering that they’re the tournament favorites even after their loss against the Selangor Red Giants.
The most impressive thing, though, about Team Liquid’s win against Yangon wasn’t the sweep but how quickly they’re adapting in the middle of the tournament. Gold Laner Kiel “Oheb” Soriano in particular impressed everyone with his use of the new hero, Sora, so soon after it was used against Team Liquid by SRG. This makes Team Liquid more dangerous as now they’ve shown they can engage with the double fighter strategy.
EXP Laner Sanford Vinuya also flexed his carry capabilities with two game MVP’s as Yu Zhong and Gloo. From devastating teamfights to surviving the closest of calls, Sanford continues to show why he’s considered one of the best EXP Laners in the world.
“I just want to say good luck to our next opponents,” said Sanford in an interview with the media. “Because Team Liquid is hungrier than ever.”

It certainly feels like Team Liquid woke up after their loss against SRG. But coach Rodale “Ar Sy” Cruz also recognizes that the gulf between the two teams they’ve faced is quite big.
“It’s very different because SRG have two strong Filipino imports. They know how to micro and macro very well,” said coach Ar Sy. “I’m not saying that Yangon Galacticos don’t have those skills, but the gap between the two teams is quite big. These are based on my observations but it seems that they’re not used to the international stage. They need to be braver and show their potential.”
Regardless of the opponent, it seems like Team Liquid are now well and truly motivated in M7. And while there’s still more tournament left to go, the Cavalry has only one target in their sights.
“Good luck to SRG. I hope we see each other in the grand finals,” said Jungler Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno with a smile.
