The Young GOAT is ready for that arena-sized atmosphere.
The regular season hasn’t finished yet but Team Liquid’s KarlTzy is already locked in for playoffs at the Cuneta Astrodome. According to star Jungler Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno, were immediately focused on securing their playoffs spot once they got word of the new venue.
“Nung na-announce na mag-iiba yung venue ng playoffs na-excite na kami,” said Team Liquid’s KarlTzy. “Gustong-gusto namin ma-secure yung playoffs, pero goal namin ngayon is maka-upper bracket. First time din pupunta sa arena yung MPL. Nandito ako since season two so nakaka-excite kung anong magiging itsura ng stage.”
KarlTzy is indeed one of the longest active players in MPL PH. He’s been through so many eras and venues, both locally and internationally. He was playing back when the COVID-19 pandemic forced the league to play entire seasons remotely. KarlTzy has seen the MPL grow bigger and bigger throughout the years but he never even dreamed that it’d get to this level.
“Nung nag-start ako, hindi ko talaga ine-expect na lalaki ng ganito yung MPL,” admitted Team Liquid’s KarlTzy. “Inisip ko nga noon na ‘what if maka-double digit yung MPL?’ Hindi ko siya ma-imagine. Tapos ngayon nandito na tayo tapos pupunta sa mas-bagong stage.”
Of course, KarlTzy is no stranger to playing on the biggest stages as he’s been to so many international tournaments. But even he sees that playing in his home league in front of an arena-level crowd will hit different. All the more motivation for him to play at his best and put on an appropriate championship level performance.
“Masnakaka-excite, masnakaka-hype, lalo na kung bagong venue. Umiiba talaga yung aura ng mga teams. Lalo na mas malaki yung crowd, sobrang loud ng mga cheers – nakaka-goosebumps talaga.”
